Neill Blomkamp’s Alien movie will stay within continuity?

Alien is a sci-fi franchise adored by many fans. The alien universe has had spin-offs like Prometheus, comic books, and video games. Now thanks to director Neill Blomkamp (District 9), we’ll be getting a new Alien movie starring Sigourney Weaver.

The film is said to take place after James Cameron’s Aliens, and this lead some to wonder whether Blomkamp would be turning a blind eye to David Fincher’s Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection. The director has spoken to AlloCine, a French film site, that he’s not trying to disregard the last two films.

“I’m not trying to undo ‘Alien 3′ or ‘Alien Resurrection,’” he said. “…My favorites are the first two movies. I want to make a film that’s connected to ‘Alien’ and ‘Aliens.’ That’s my goal.”

I guess we’ll find out what he has in store once the film finally comes out to theaters.
