Will Smith says he’ll portray the ‘biggest historical image’ of Deadshot in Suicide Squad

Deadshot has been featured in the comics, animated movies (Batman: Assault on Arkham), video games (Batman: Arkham City) and TV shows (CW’s Arrow). Soon we’ll get to see him on the big screen in David Ayer’s Suicide Squad film, with Will Smith playing the expert marksman.

“With this character and the DC world, I love that I’m getting the opportunity for the global definition of Deadshot,” he says to MTV News.

He says that his Deadshot will be more defined compared to the other Deadshots in other mediums. Is that a knock on the other actors?

“There’s been Deadshot in little appearances here and there, there’s an idea, but Deadshot isn’t defined, really. I get to be a part of the creation that will be the biggest historical image of Deadshot.”

I’ll have to admit that Deadshot never really shined in the live-action realm. In Arrow, Michael Rowe does an okay job, but I never really saw him as a formidable opponent who could go up against Arrow or Batman. However, the Suicide Squad film version may show us how tough he can be.

With that said, he was a pretty badass character on Batman: Assault on Arkham. He was able to lead the team while also capturing the heart of Harley Quinn. He also went up against the Joker.

Do you think Will Smith can pull off an intimidating and strong Deadshot?
