Director revealed for Assassin’s Creed movie, plus Marion Cotillard to co-star

The Assassin’s Creed movie starring Michael Fassbender is now in pre-production. That means we’ll be getting some news on director and actors. Marion Cotillard has signed on to co-star with Fassbender, according to Deadline. Both actors have worked together before in the upcoming Macbeth movie. It’s like the cast and crew of Macbeth are teaming up again, since it’s also revealed that Justin Kurzel is joining as director.

The movie is looking really hopeful, since Michael Fassbender has proven himself as an intense actor. Marion Cotillard was seen in highly-acclaimed films including Inception and has won an Oscar for La Vie En Rose. I’m not sure how I feel about Kurzel, but with him having worked with the actors before, it will definitely help their on-screen chemistry.

Cotillard’s role is still a mystery, but reports have already stated that Fassbender’s going to be playing two different roles; one as a modern-day death row inmate and the other as an assassin during the Spanish Inquisition. Both actors will have recurring roles if the movie does well.

For those looking to see what the director is capable of, Macbeth should definitely be on their radar. Which reminds me, when will we ever get a live-action Gargoyles movie?

Principal photography is set to start in early fall.

The Assassin’s Creed film hits theaters on December 21, 2016.
