It’s already been revealed that the Assassin’s Creed movie starring Michael Fassbender will be hitting theaters on December 21, 2016. Now we have news from Ubisoft’s chief executive officer Yves Guillemot during today’s earning call that the film is now in pre-production, with principal photography to follow.

“This is a very important milestone for the project,” Guillemot said.

The upcoming film is said to follow two different timelines, one in the past and one in the present. Fassbender will be playing a death row inmate in the modern time and Aguilar de Agarorobo, an assassin, during the Spanish Inquisition.

Ubisoft is finally pushing things forward for its Ubisoft Motion Pictures department. Other films in the pipeline include Far Cry, Watch Dogs, Splinter Cell and more.
