Spider-Man to appear in Captain America: Civil War?

Marvel dropped a big bombshell last night when it announced its vague plans for Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Not only did Marvel Studios convinced Sony Pictures to allow the webhead to appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but the deal will also have Amy Pascal and Kevin Feige co-producing the upcoming Spider-Man films for Sony, with Avi Arad acting as an executive producer. (That should be good news for those who hated Arad meddling with the films.)

According to The Wallstreet Journal’s source, Spider-Man will be making an appearance in Captain America: Civil War. After that, he will be appearing in a solo film being co-produced by Sony and Marvel, with Sony financing the project. It will be released in 2017 and will not have Andrew Garfield returning.

It’s been revealed via the Sony Hack that Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures have been discussing about the possibility of having Spider-Man be in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. All signs pointed to Sony not wanting to negotiate, but this news proves otherwise.

The upcoming solo Spider-Man film will be the second reboot for the character. With the announcement, The Sinister Six film, a film about Spidey’s villains, will be delayed. (DC and WB are already working on their own super villain team film with Suicide Squad.) The source says that it will now be pushed back to November of 2016.
