Andrew Garfield confirmed to not return as Spider-Man

amazing-spider-man-2-andrew-garfield-570x320Years from now, you will look back at this day and remember where you were when they announced Spider-Man is COMING BACK TO MARVEL! In case you missed it, it has just been announced that Spider-Man will be brought back into the fold with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Sadly it seems, Andrew Garfield will not.

It was rumored for a while now that Andrew Garfield would not return as Spider-Man if a deal was reached between Marvel and Sony Pictures. This information was made available all thanks to the Sony email hack. It was also revealed Sony was not too pleased with Garfield after he skipped out on a dinner with some big Sony executives.

It probably doesn’t help that he spoke publicly that he thought the studio was one of the main problems with Amazing Spider-Man 2.

“I think what happened was, through the pre-production, production, and post-production, when you have something that works as a whole, and then you start removing portions of it—because there was even more of it than was in the final cut, and everything was related. Once you start removing things and saying, ‘No, that doesn’t work,’ then the thread is broken, and it’s hard to go with the flow of the story. Certain people at the studio had problems with certain parts of it, and ultimately the studio is the final say in those movies because they’re the tentpoles, so you have to answer to those people”

Seeing as there are some fans and critics who genuinely loved Garfield’s portrayal of the web-slinging wall crawler, it should be interesting who’s going to be picked next for the role of Peter Parker.
