Joss Whedon says he can’t imagine doing Avengers: Infinity War
Joss Whedon wrapped production on Avengers: Age of Ultron back in August last year. There were reports that a few additional scenes were filmed this month, but for the most part the movie is done and it appears that the same could be said for its director.
Whedon revealed in a new interview that Age of Ultron will probably be his last time behind the camera in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
I couldn’t imagine doing this again. It’s enormously hard, and it would be, by then, a good five years since I created anything that was completely my own. So it’s very doubtful that I would take on the two-part Infinity War movie that would eat up the next four years of my life. I obviously still want to be a part of the Marvel Universe – I love these guys – but it ain’t easy. This year has been more like running three shows than any year of my life. It is bonkers.
This would also coincide with a report that came out last December saying that if Whedon passes on the third film then the Russo Brothers would likely fill the spot for the two films. Marvel was pretty high on the brothers after Captain America: The Winter Soldier, but some believe that director James Gunn could also be in the running with the monumental success he had with Guardians of the Galaxy. No one really knows for sure at this point.
