Fox to produce live-action X-Men series

Fox has been home to many X-Men-related series including the animated series in the ’90s and the lackluster Generation X movie. (Anybody remember that?) Now it looks like we might be getting a proper live-action X-Men series.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fox is going forward with the series and will have 24 producers Evan Katz and Manny Coto running the show with Patrick McKay (Star Trek 3) and JD Payne (Star Trek 3) as writers. They all will be credited with the creation of the series.

We know that 20th Century Fox has the rights to produce the X-Men films, but what about X-Men TV series? Well, they are working with Marvel to complete the deal.

“Sources indicate a deal is far from complete with Marvel — which owns the comic rights — still having to sign off on the deal.”

Wait a minute, if Fox is working with Marvel on a deal, perhaps Marvel should only close the deal if they get something out of the X-Men film universe. Then again, it looks like Marvel has been neglecting the Fox-produced Marvel heroes in the comic book universe; for example, ending the Fantastic Four comic.

Will the X-Men series actually feature main characters like Cyclops, Jean Grey, Beast, Angel and Professor X? We won’t know until later on.

Are you looking forward to Fox doing an X-Men series? If so, who would you like to see?
