Many of the announced games were expected including Ultra Street Fighter IV and Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3. Mortal Kombat X has already been added to the lineup with the game releasing in April, and first the first time two Super Smash Bros. titles will be featured on the main stage.

But that wasn’t all. Mad Catz’s own Mark “MarkMan” Julio called in wanting to see some Tekken action in this year’s Evo. In the end it was announced that Tekken 7 would be added to this year’s lineup as the ninth tournament title. An interesting fact is that the game isn’t scheduled for a console release, and Japan won’t be seeing the game release in arcades until July. So in an extra surprise announcement, it was announced that Tekken 7 will be appearing as an arcade title at Evo, which hasn’t been done since 2003. For players wanting to get practice in that aren’t in Japan, Markman announced that Namco Bandai will be working with arcades and other roads to Evo tournaments to let players get some prep time in leading up to Evo.
