Gary Whitta out and Simon Kinberg in for Gareth Edwards’ Star Wars spin-off?

It’s reported last week that Gary Whitta (Book of Eli, The Walking Dead: The Game) has backed out of writing the Star Wars spin-off movie for director Gareth Edwards (Godzilla). (He’ll be working on another screenplay for Mark Millar’s Starlight.) There are many rumors as to what the spin-off will be about, including one about young Han Solo or a team of bounty hunters. Now Slash Film is reporting that Simon Kinberg (X-Men: Days of Future Past) is set to pen the script.

The man has worked on Star Wars before, since he is a writer and producer for Star Wars Rebels and is a consultant for J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: The Force Awakens. He’s also a writer for one standalone film.

What do you think of Kinberg as a writer for Edwards’ Star Wars spin-off movies.
