Marvel wants Spider-Man in Avengers: Infinity War films
Another Sony leak has surfaced, and this time it’s about details on how Spider-Man is going to be in the Marvel cinematic universe. It’s already been revealed that Spider-Man was a contender to be featured in Captain America: Civil War, but now Marvel also wants him to be in Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 and 2.
Val Broeksmit has been doing some digging and found emails between President of Worldwide Business Affairs and Operations for Columbia Pictures Andrew Gumpert and Sony Pictures head Amy Pascal. Here they discuss Marvel’s plan on having Spider-Man in the Marvel cinematic universe. Gumpert tells Pascal that if Marvel and Sony close the deal, the next Spider-Man flick wouldn’t be a continuation of Captain America: Civil War. Even though it’s not a continuation, the events of Civil War would still happen in the Spidey flick.
The details about the cameo, according to Gumpert, reveals that Spider-Man would be getting a new suit from Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), revealing that he would be joining Stark’s side. Parker would also be meeting Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Captain America (Chris Evans). Marvel also wants the next Spider-Man film to feature Peter Parker as a high school student living with Aunt May in Queens.
So what’s this about Avengers: Infinity War? Marvel wants Spider-Man to appear in the two filmd, and that means Sony needs to do a second standalone Spider-Man film in 2019.
Gumpert is all for Sony closing the deal, as he thinks this will help Sony more. However, Pascal is the one being stubborn by wanting to wait until Marvel releases both Avengeres: Infinity War films.
