Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is a nice platform to extend and enhance the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The best example of this was how it led up to the events of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and how the events of that movie changed the course of the show. Now we’ll get to see the same thing with Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Marvel has revealed officially that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will be setting up the Avengers: Age of Ultron event (via Entertainment Weekly).

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Executive Producer Jed Whedon said that the ABC show and movie will be connected:

“You should expect something,” he told EW. “The Avengers is the big tent that all the franchises play under. Obviously, we’re included in that.”

The biggest question is whether the events of Age of Ultron will change Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. in a big way like The Winter Soldier.

“I don’t think any movie has the potential to impact us in the way that Captain America 2 did,” said executive producer Maurissa Tancharoen. “But there will be connections.”

Are you caught up on the show, or are you one of those who gave up after the first season? If the latter, will this bring you back?

The midseason finale of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will be airing tonight on ABC at 9pm PT/ET.
