The Walking Dead companion series has recently been casting its actors including Frank Dillane (Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince) and Alycia Debnam Carey (Into the Storm). Now the next casting is a big one, since it’s the main male lead.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cliff Curtis (Training Day, Live Free or Die Hard) will be playing the male lead role of Sean Cabrera, a teacher who is “a good man trying to do right by everyone in his life.” Dillane will be playing his son.

The female lead hasn’t been revealed yet, but she’s a guidance counselor who is a colleague of Cabrera.

The plot is still a mystery, but the show will take place in the same zombie apocalypse as The Walking Dead. Showrunner Dave Erickson and series creator Robert Kirkman are both working on the show with Adam Davidson directing.

I’m hoping we’re getting that same vibe like in Saving Private Ryan, where we find out that Tom Hanks’ Captain Miller is actually a teacher. It’s a great example of how circumstances have turned people into something else.
