People are upset about Batwoman abandoning marriage for ‘rape’

Batwoman seems to be a title that is always receiving criticisms and controversy. The last time we reported about the superheroine was when co-writers J.H. Williams and W. Haden Blackman left DC Comics due to the publisher not wanting marriage (other DC characters were unmarried with the New 52). Marc Andreyko and Jeremy Haun then joined to work on the series, which ended up with Kate Kane, aka Batwoman, breaking up with her partner, Maggie, in Batwoman #34.

Now it’s back in the spotlight with issue Batwoman #36. Currently we’re seeing a vampire named Nocturna becoming Kate’s lovers. This has people raging due to the story abandoning a potential story where marriage and superheroes can work. Now we have a story about a vampire seducing Kate in an abusive relationship. For example, we have one where Kate is thinking that Nocturna is Maggie, but Nocturna tricks her into thinking she’s Maggie.

Here we see Kate and Nocturna again. This time when Nocturna goes for the kiss, Kate looks unsure.

Writer Marc has said that Nocturna isn’t a rapist.

What do you guys think?
