Jean-Claude Van Damme will return in the Kickboxer remake

Jean-Claude Van Damme (Expendables 2)
If you don’t know who Jean-Claude Van Damme is, you need to go out and watch the movie, Bloodsport. That was the main movie that launched Van Damme’s career into the stratosphere in the late 1980s. After watching that, you will then need to watch the original Kickboxer movie that also stars Van Damme. Let me tell you, that movie seriously needs to be seen by everyone, not just because of the awesome martial arts and revenge story, no. It needs to be seen because Van Damme’s dancing was the epitome of awesome in that movie! However, I digress from the point at hand.
Tony Jaa, who starred in Ong Bak, was supposed to be the martial arts master of movie. However due to scheduling conflicts, he had to exit the role that is now filled by Van Damme; Jean Claude Van Damme is now set to play a part in a remake of his own movie! The premise of the story has Alain Moussi, who plays the main character Kurt Sloan, traveling to Thailand and wanting to learn Thai kickboxing to take on the evil Tong Po. Again if you’ve seen the original Kickboxer, the story follows the same path.

“We are so excited to have Kickboxer roll into production and to have JCVD in the role of Master Chow, passing the torch to Alain, to have him lead the franchise to a new generation ” –Producer Ted Field.
I’m actually really excited about this! Despite the fact that I’m not a fan of reboots and remakes, this movie for some reason tickles my fancy. Perhaps it’s the inner kid in me that wants to see how a modern remake of the original will look. The movie starts shooting in a week and will finish production in Thailand. Stay tuned for it!
