Redbox to raise prices in December

It’s that time again when internet service companies are raising prices, and this time it’s Redbox. The rental service will increase pricing for rentals that includes Blu-rays, DVDs and video games in the US.

DVD costs will go up 30 percent to $1.50, Blu-ray will cost another 50 cents to retail for $2, and video games will go up one dollar for the $3 pricing.

Most of the adjusted prices will be in effect on December 2, 2014. Video games, however, won’t be hiking up on price until January 6, 2015.

The reason for this is of course profit. Redbox is hoping the new pricing will help “offset future declines in the physical rental market.”

Costs will vary by location.
