Ottawa Pop Expo 2014 Cosplay Gallery

Pop Expo 001

Braving the rain and cold temperatures, cosplayers from all across the National Capital region and beyond descended on the EY centre (Colloquially known as the ‘Ewok Centre’ or ‘MickEY’ centre by some) in Ottawa to showcase their costume making prowess.

While only in its second year of existence, the con also managed to raise over $10,000 in comics, toys and more for the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario. The Capital City Garrison also received a $2,500 donation to their Toy Mountain initiative and raised $1,250 for Make-a-Wish Canada. Members of the Doctor Who Society of Canada were no slouches either as they raised $2,250 for CHEO’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

Although not as numerous as other conventions, the attendees numbered over 7,500 and organizers will be hoping that crowd and more will attend next May’s third addition of Ottawa Comiccon as the incomparable Wil Wheaton was announced as the show’s first guest! Wheaton makes regular appearances on The Big Bang Theory but fans may remember him better from his role as Wesley Crusher in Star Trek: The Next Generation and has the host of Geek and Sundry’s Tabletop.

So sit back, relax, and enjoy the cosplay and don’t forget to check out our friends MTKS’ hula cam music video!

Born and raised in the great white north, Eric grew up playing PC games and reading more Archie comics than is humanely possible. Clark Kent look-a-like on an epic quest to play all the retro games he wasn't allowed to as a child!
