The recent X-Men films have been taking place in the past, with First Class set in the ’60s and Days of Future Past set in the ’70s. Bryan Singer is once again going back to the past for the next film, X-Men: Apocalypse.

Now The Wrap is reporting that a bunch of actors and actresses are being looked at to fill the roles of young Cyclops and Jean Grey. With these high-profile names, they will definitely have prominent roles.

The role of young Jean Grey has Chloe Moretz (Kick-Ass), Elle Fanning (Maleficent) and Hailee Steinfeld (Ender’s Game) in the running. Ben Hardy, Charlie Rowe and Timothee Chalamet (Interstellar) are being considered for the role of young Cyclops.

With them being considered, it’s not known whether the actors are interested. What is known is that Singer is looking for big name stars for Jean Grey. As for Cyclops, it looks like the director is okay with casting an unknown.

Currently the younger Cyclops and Jean Grey have been transported to the present day world in the comics, so having younger versions in the movie isn’t that much of a stretch.

X-Men: Apocalypse has been reported to also feature a love story between Magneto and Mystique.

With this news, will we ever see Famke Janssen and James Marsden return in a more prominent role?

X-Men: Apocalypse hits theaters on May 27, 2016.
