Mario, Luigi and Pikachu-themed Gamecube controllers for Wii U

We’ve seen Nintendo announce that there were many ways to play the upcoming Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo Wii U. Players can select their controller of choice from the Wii U Gamepad, Wiimote with or without nunchuk, classic controller and even Gamecube controllers with the help of the Nintendo Gamecube Adapter, but Hori has another method for you.

Meet the Hori Battle Pad. It’s┬ámade to look just like the Nintendo Gamecube controller but this actually functions more like a Classic Controller Pro as it will also work on any games that support the use of classic controller and classic controller pro. The controller includes a turbo function as well as a ZL and ZR button which will let players enjoy their gaming in a more “retro” style if you will.

The Battle Pads will be available on November 21st, the same day Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U arrives. However, only the Mario and Luigi versions are currently confirmed for North America release. In Japan there is a third controller, which features another iconic Nintendo character.
