Wonder Woman looks to be getting a female director

It looks like Michelle MacLaren is the first in line for WB’s search for a Wonder Woman director. MacLaren is best known for directing television episodes from Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, and The Walking Dead. If you haven’t been watching television, these are the most highly watched series at the moment.

There are rumors that the position has already been offered to MacLaren, however both MacLaren and WB declined to comment or confirm these speculations of her taking the helm for this movie.

It’s understandable that WB would like to have a female director in charge of directing a female lead; especially for a superhero movie, although I think WB should also look at possible male directors as well. If Joss Whedon can make Buffy, Dark Angel, and Firefly have strong female characters, maybe there are other male directors out there that have this ability as well.

Of course if MacLaren takes the position, then it would be great news for WB. If she doesn’t, then it’s back to the drawing board for WB. Let’s hope they don’t get tunnel vision on trying to release the first female superhero on screen.
