The Evil Dead returns and will be a Starz TV series in 2015

Does the thought of the Evil Dead franchise getting a live-action TV series sound enticing? What? You have doubts because the Evil Dead remake didn’t star Bruce Campbell and didn’t have Sam Raimi as a director? Well, then, here are some news that might turn your head.

Sam Raimi will be returning to the franchise along with his brother Ivan as writers. The show will be an original Starz series that will debut in 2015. Oh, there’s more. Raimi will be directing the pilot, and returning as Ash Williams is Campbell. Judging from the synopsis, it looks like he’ll be the main character. Groovy!

The series, Ash vs. The Evil Dead, will contain 10 episodes, each lasting half an hour. The story will take place 30 years after the events of Army of Darkness.

The STARZ Original series officially titled “Ash Vs. Evil Dead” will be 10 half-hour episodes. Bruce Campbell will be reprising his role as Ash, the stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons –personal and literal. Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to release the unlikely hero from its “Evil” grip…

Here’s what Campbell had to say about the announcement:

“I’m really excited to bring this series to the Evil Dead fans worldwide – it’s going to be everything they have been clamoring for: serious deadite ass-kicking and plenty of outrageous humor,” said Bruce Campbell.

Hail to the king, baby.
