Kalista, The Spear of Vengeance – League of Legends Champion preview

Riot just recently revealed their newest upcoming champion Kalista, the Spear of Vengeance, a new marksman character or ADC to the MOBA community. Treacherously murdered, Kalista rose as a specter, twisted by the horrific power of the Shadow Isles. In death, she offers Runeterrans a proposition: surrender your soul to the Spear of Vengeance and she will exact retribution on your betrayers. Kalista is able to bind her soul to a teammate which gives both champions bonuses when they are near one another. Kalista’s full potential is revealed when she remains in close proximity to her chosen partner as they work together to concentrate their attacks on the same target.

Here is her kit:

Unique Item: Black Spear

Active: Kalista offers a pact to an allied champion, should they agree, the item is consumed and the pair are Soul-Bound for the remainder of the game. When accepted, the binding enables Soul-Marked, a passive on Sentinel, and allows Kalista to use Fate’s Call when she unlocks it.

Passive: Martial Poise

Rather than cancelling the basic attack animation, a move order hops Kalista in the direction of the click after she completes her attack. Kalista leaps farther when moving away from her target.

Pierce (Q)

A fast but narrow projectile that deals physical damage. Triggers Martial Poise (P), Sentinel (W), and Rend (E). If it kills a target, Pierce continues onward, passing all stacks of Rend to the next target.

Sentinel (W)

Passive: When you and you Oathsworn both basic attack the same target within 1.5 seconds, you deal % of their max health as magic damage. 8 second cooldown per target.

Active: Send a soul Sentinel to patrol an unseen area. Champions they see are revealed for 4 seconds. Sentinel lasts 7 laps.  Kalista gains a charge of Sentinel every 60/55/50/45/40 seconds.

Rend (E)

While off cooldown, Kalista’s spears pierce their target and linger there for 4 seconds.

Active: Kalista rips the spears from nearby targets, dealing physical damage and slowing their Movement Speed for 2 seconds. Each extra spear increases the damage but not the slow. If it kills a target, Rend’s cooldown is reset.

Fate’s Call (R)

Draw Kalista’s Oathsworn to her. For up to 4 seconds, the Oathsworn is untargetable but pacified.

They may mouse click to fly toward target position, stopping at the first enemy champion hit, knocking all enemies in a small radius back and placing the Oathsworn at their maximum attack range from the enemy.Kalista’s Oathsworn must be within 1400 units for her to cast  this ability.
