Jessica Chastain never talked to Marvel about Captain Marvel

ZERO-DARK-THIRTY_510x317 Jessica Chastain

In a recent interview with MTV News, Jessica Chastain (Zero Dark Thirty)¬†mentioned that she turned down Iron Man 3 because she didn’t want the boring role of a civilian. She instead wanted to be a character that can kick ass, like a hero or villain. The assumption was that perhaps Marvel wanted her to portray Carol Danvers, aka Captain Marvel.

Now Chastain has taken it to Twitter to set the record straight. She did not have conversations with Marvel about Captain Marvel. Although, it’s pretty suspect that she would know the date of the movie right off the bat. (Maybe she’s a big fan?)

“Oops uh oh….I’ve never had talks about Captain Marvel. Was referring to a different film from over a year ago, in my recent MTV interview.”

Perhaps she’s telling the truth, or perhaps she’s trying to trick us. It’s not the first time a person in the industry tried to get the upper hand. (See J.J. Abrams on Khan being in Star Trek Into Darkness.)

Marvel may look into her to play Captain Marvel soon, since we have until 2018 until the movie comes out. Would you like to see Jessica Chastain as the female superhero? Sound off below!
