Dead Rising: Watchtower casts more actors including Rob Riggle and Epic Meal Time’s Harley

Dead Rising PC - 05

Legendary and Crackle are currently working on a Dead Rising movie that’s based on the video game by Capcom. So far the confirmed casting included Jesse Metcalfe (John Tucker Must Die), Meghan Ory (Once Upon a Time), Virginia Madsen (Witches of East End) and Dennis Haysbert (24). Now the companies have announced today more casting news for Dead Rising: Watchtower. It includes Rob Riggle (Let’s Be Cops, 22 Jump Street), Keegan Connor Tracy (Bates Motel, Once Upon A Time), and Aleks Paunovic (This Means War). The one name that caught me off guard is Harley Morenstein from Epic Meal Time, since he’s now a YouTube star turned Hollywood actor. (He’s not the first, since we also have Kevjumba starring in Revenge of the Green Dragon.)

Frank West is the protagonist in the first Dead Rising video game, and he will be played by Riggle. Morenstein will be playing Pyro, a menacing biker. Paunovic will be playing Logan, the leader of the biker gang. Tracy will be playing Jordan, a straight-laced journalist.

Dead Rising: Watchtower takes place during a large-scale zombie outbreak. When a mandatory government vaccine fails to stop the infection from spreading, the four leads must evade infection while also pursuing the root of the epidemic, with all signs pointing to a government conspiracy. Politics, public paranoia, and media coverage play an important role in the story’s narrative.

The film is being written and produced by Tim Carter, whose writing credits include Sleeping Dogs. Also producing is Tomas Harlan, and they will be under the Contradiction Films banner, the production company that produced the Mortal Kombat: Legacy web series. Lorenzo di Bonaventura (Transformers, G.I. Joe) will executive produce.

Crackle will have the exclusive distribution for a limited time for the feature-length film in the U.S. After that, it will be available on SVOD, DVD, VOD and TV.
