David Ayer says Suicide Squad will be like ‘Dirty Dozen with supervillains’

How important is the Suicide Squad film for Warner Bros? Apparently very important, since audiences will be seeing the team of supervillains before seeing Wonder Woman The Flash, and the Justice League on the big screen. Attached to direct the film is David Ayer, who recently worked on Fury starring Brad Pitt.

In an interview with Empire, Ayer gave a hint on what we can expect from the film.

“Fury whetted my appetite for a bigger canvas and this idea of world creation,” said Ayer. “You can do amazing things as a filmmaker if you have the proper tools, and those are time and money. I can say that it’s a Dirty Dozen with supervillains. Then I can ask the question, ‘Does a movie really need good guys?”

When asked about the casting process for Captain Boomerang, Ayer answered that it would be the same as any other role. This would seem to “confirm” that the captain will in fact be a character in the film.

“Like one would cast any other role,” Ayer replied. “I don’t know what I’m going to do. I’m going to do what I do in my typical fever dream of directing.”
