NYCC 2014: Sony PlayStation Original Series debuts Powers trailer

Microsoft was the first to announce original television projects for its Xbox consoles in terms of the console wars between Microsoft and Sony. Some programming included a Halo series and many more. After CEO Satya Nadella took over, the company decided to shut down Xbox Entertainment Studios. Well, there goes that plan (the Halo series is still going to happen). Sony followed suit by announcing they were also doing original series programming for its PlayStation brand. It was ahead of the curb when the company released stills for Powers, a series based on writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Michael Avon Oeming’s comic book series of the same name.

During New York Comic Con, Sony Pictures Television debuted the live-action trailer for the Powers series starring Sharlto Copley (District 9, Maleficent).

(Caution: Contains f-bombs.)

Synopsis: POWERS follows the lives of two homicide detectives, Christian Walker (Sharlto Copley) and Deena Pilgrim (Susan Heyward), who are assigned to investigate cases involving people with extraordinary abilities, referred to as “Powers.” As you’ll see in the first look trailer, POWERS centers on Walker’s journey as a hero who lost his powers and struggles with losing what made him great.

If you are a PlayStation Plus subscriber, you’ll be able to watch the series this winter. It will be available to download or stream. Don’t worry, if you don’t have a Plus account, you’ll be able to watch the first episode for free.
