Optimus Prime honored at TCL Chinese Theatre

In celebration of the release of Transformers: Age of Extinction, which is now available on Blu-ray and DVD, Optimus Prime and his iconic voice actor Peter Cullen received a handprint ceremony (or in Optimus’s case, tireprints) in front of the TLC Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, California. The event began with a very iconic truck arriving in front of the theater.

A 20-foot-tall Optimus Prime statue was revealed soon after and was the same one which appeared at the Transformers: Age of Extinction world premiere in Hong Kong earlier this year (it was an amazing sight to see up close). Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura came out to talk briefly about the franchise and then had a few words about the day’s guest of honors and introduced the voice of Optimus Prime, Peter Cullen.

Peter Cullen had a very powerful and wonderful speech about how the voice of Optimus Prime came to be with the help of his brother, and how grateful he is for receiving the honor. Mr. Cullen spoke about his career and role in the movie and then concluded the ceremony as he signed and placed his hand on the cement as he posed for photos. He also took some time to interact with fans.

After the ceremonies, we had a chance to speak with Mr. Cullen about the event, the Transformers franchise and his emotional speech.
