Josh Brolin really enjoys working with Marvel

It’ll be a while until we get to see Josh Brolin take care of the Avengers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but in the meantime fans can watch him make an appearance in Guardians of the Galaxy. When talking about Marvel Studios, Brolin had no issues complimenting them. He even says working with them is like working with directors like P.T. Anderson (There Will Be Blood, Magnolia).

“We did [Guardians of the Galaxy] and it felt perfect. I still feel great about that project. I like what it represents.”

Brolin elaborated:

“The (career) trajectory. It’s very difficult for me not to look at the whole trajectory. The minute I get pigeonholed as some art-house guy, I love the idea of doing something different. It’s not the genre I’m going for. It’s not the title I’m going for. It’s the role, or the type of director.”

It’s nice to know that he cares more about his role and the director involved. As for directors, he also praises James Gunn.

“I think James Gunn is so amazing. When I met with those Marvel guys, I just loved seeing them and what they were about. They’re really just kind of geeks for story. They love story and they don’t try to hide it under any kind of coolness. ‘This movie’s going to make a lot of money’ or ‘This is going to do something for your career’ – there’s none of that talk,” said Brolin.

So the way Marvel works is similar to the way those art-house directors work?

Brolin said, “The Coen brothers are the same way. P.T. Anderson is the same way. So I don’t really see any difference between my conversations with Marvel and my conversations with P.T. Anderson.”

Are you happy that Brolin is part of the Marvel family?
