To Be Takei heads to DVD on October 7th

To Be Takei, the documentary about George Takei (Star Trek), will be coming to DVD exclusively on Amazon. Anchor Bay Entertainment has announced that it will be available on October 7, 2014. Special features will include behind-the-scenes and bonus footage.

In the documentary, we get an entertaining look at the 77-year-old actor who fights for gay rights. Takei is a hit with his fans (he has over 7 million fans on Facebook) and uses humor to bring about touchy subjects. The film follows his personal journey and his day-to-day life along with his husband and business partner, Brad Takei. From his childhood in a U.S. internment camp during WWII to his role as Sulu on Star Trek, we get to really see what it’s like “to be Takei.”

William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, Nichelle Nichols, Walter Koenig, and Dan Savage all make special appearances.
