In Marvel’s Ultimate Universe, Nick Fury was inspired by Samuel L. Jackson, so to have the actor portray Nick Fury in the Marvel Cinematic Universe was awesome news.

It looks like Donald Glover (Community) will be following in Jackson’s footstep. He was the inspiration for comic writer Brian Michael Bendis’ Miles Morales, a new Spider-Man in the Ultimate Universe. USA Today has reported that the actor will voice the character in Disney XD’s Ultimate Spider-Man. The animated series will be in its third season and will be subtitled “Web Warriors.” The story has Peter Parker (Drake Bell) dimension hopping to stop the Green Goblin from getting Spider-Man DNA from the many different universes, like Iron Spider, Spider-Man 2099, the Amazing Spider-Girl and Miles Morales. In the Miles universe, Peter Parker is dead.

“He meets someone who is his hero, and that comes across completely in Donald’s performance,” Stephen Wacker, Marvel Television’s vice president of current animation, tells the newspaper. “He’s got a real warmth that suits the character really, really well. If you’ve read Miles Morales comics, Donald’s voice nails what you’ve been reading.”

It was revealed that Glover was a big fan of Spider-Man who wanted to play the superhero in the rebooted version. Community creator Dan Harmon was disturbed to find out that Glover’s campaign to be Spider-Man has shown a “curious eruption of a previously unknown demographic of racist comic-book readers.”

That in turn had Glover’s character, Troy, wearing Spider-Man pajamas in Community Season 2 premiere episode. Bendis saw this and said, “He looked fantastic!” back in 2011. “I saw him in the costume and thought, ‘I would like to read that book.’ So I was glad I was writing that book.”

Glover responds to USA Today that playing the young teenager wasn’t that hard.

“That’s the great part about the Spider-Man costume: He can be anybody,” Glover said. “Spider-Man could be a girl. Spider-Man could be an old man. You don’t know. So I just tried to be as me as possible, because you’re always just going to bring it back to yourself when you watch the show.”

Ultimate Spider-Man: Web Warriors premieres August 31st, Sunday, at 9am ET/PT on Disney XD.
