We’re finally getting a new Harry Potter film

Us Potter fans got some very, vert exciting news today. Trust me when I say it’s VERY exciting.

If you’re not familiar with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, it was a book written by J.K Rowling that was introduced in the films and later sold for all of us to read. In the franchise, it is written by Newt Scamander, who passed away far before Harry’s story began.

Well, David Yates, who directed the last four Harry Potter films, decided he didn’t want the series to stop just yet. So, he’s taking Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and making it into a new movie. Although it’s not exactly the prequel to the original series, it is considered part of the franchise as a whole.

Fantastic Beasts

The film itself will be set 70 years before The Sorcerers Stone, and focuses on Mr. Scamander, who, in his early 20s was a magizoologist. It’s going to take place in New York, and Rowling herself is going to be making her debut as a screenwriter for the trilogy.

The project was first announced in September, but as far as I know, it was pretty up in the air for a while. I’m pretty excited, seeing as I’m a huge Harry Potter fan. The series will never die out to us Potterheads, but the fact that they are going to continue the story with a new trilogy is extremely heartwarming. On top of that, we have a fantastic director who lives and breathes Harry Potter, and the mastermind behind it all screenwriting most of it. How awesome is all of this?

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is planned to hit theaters November 18th, 2016. Hopefully we get word on who is going to play Newt soon.
