SDCC 2014: Prima shows off some must have Collector Editions

It’s been a very long time since I’ve bought a strategy guide, due to the fact you can find everything online now and spending $10-$20 just doesn’t seem worth it anymore. Prima Games has stepped up their “game” recently with a few special collector edition sets like the previously released The Legend of Zelda Box Set: Prima Official Game Guide. (It included six Zelda hardcover guides in a really cool Zelda inspired chest.) At San Diego Comic-Con, Prima had a few new guides on display that collectors will really enjoy.

Assassin’s Creed Unity: Initiate Edition

The Prototype for the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Unity: Initiate Edition was on display, it features a hardcover strategy guide which hides a special compartment with a scroll and chalice for fans to discover. The whole thing is really cool and the hidden chalice, which is still being finished, and scroll being concealed under the lid is a cool bonus along with the really well designed hardcover book.

The weathered box is embellished with the Assassin’s crest. Beneath the lid rests the mystical chalice and a rough-edged, sealed scroll bearing the Assassin’s creed. Hidden deeper within the secret compartment is the hardcover strategy guide, which features high-res cover art on a premium soft-touch dust jacket, 32 pages of bonus content, and the expert strategies and tactics needed to discover all the secrets of Revolutionary Paris.

The Dragon Age Inquisition Inquisitor’s Edition

Dragon Age Inquisition is looking to be the game that fans have been wanting for a long time. The team at BioWare has been working really hard on this game and at E3, Dragon Age Inquisition received a lot of praise.

It will be available when the game releases in November.

Final Fantasy VII-VIII-IX Collection

FF guide

This one was a nice little surprise. Prima will be releasing a Final Fantasy Strategy Guide Collection which will feature Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy VIII, and Final Fantasy IX. All three guides have been updated and there is currently no release date set for the collection, but Prima plans to release it before the end of 2014.

All three guides will be contained in one really nicely designed box, which will include art work for the game. While the games have long been out, this is just a really nice piece for Final Fantasy fans to have.
