Nerd HQ: Conversations for a Cause: Zachary Levi

zacZachary Levi, the founder of The Nerd Machine and Nerd HQ, opened the 4th annual charity event benefiting Operation Smile at Petco Park Thursday morning with his own panel. His sold out session raised $6000 for Operation Smile.

Zachary spoke a bit about the crowd-funding campaign Nerd HQ employed to help fund the event. They had many people attack their efforts, which didn’t sit well with Zachary. More supporters than naysayers came to his and the event’s defense, however, and he expressed his deepest and sincerest thanks to everyone who donated.

Several times throughout the panel, he was congratulated on his recent nuptials and very briefly talked about his wife, actress Missy Peregrym, stating simply that she’s an “incredible woman.” He also discussed the very close-knit bond he shares with his two sisters and commented on how important his entire family is in his life.

For those who have been to the event before or are aware of Zachary’s tendencies to get emotional and tear up during these sessions, it was a question of whether one of his answers would cause some tears in the very first panel of the event. The answer: Yes.
