Nerd Block July 2014 Mystery Box Review

Nerd Block - 01

Nerd Block July 2014 Classic Mystery Box arrived on my doorstep yesterday, and it comes with 5 nerdy items inside. So how does Nerd Block fare this month? Read below and find out.

Nerd Block - 02

Like any good nerdy mystery box subscription, the thing I check out first is the t-shirt. With Nerd Block, I know that each month I’m guaranteed a t-shirt. You can order basic, youth, fitted mens or fitted womens. Since Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is coming out early next month, it’s appropriate that we get some sort of Turtle swag. The t-shirt features the Turtle Van with the words “Turtle Power.”

The next item is a little different from the norm. We have a Nerf Zombie Strike Ricochet shooter. It’s a pretty good sized toy, especially for being inside a Nerd Block box. This sucker shoots out discs and helps protect you from annoying neighbors…errrr zombies.

What’s Nerd Block without a Star Wars item? We have the collectible Star Wars Deformed Vehicles. The one I received was the Tie Fighter. Who knew these fighters can be so cute?

Star Wars is a big theme this month since we get two Star Wars items. The Star Wars Insider Magazine is the official fan club magazine, and in it we get caught up with some Star Wars Episode 7 news and other features. It’s a nice magazine to learn more about the Star Wars universe, past or present.

The last one is the Nerd Certified Product of the Month. Comic-Con Episode IV: A Fan’s Hope is a documentary directed by Morgan Spurlock (Super Size Me) that follows the lives of five attendees at San Diego Comic-Con. The product includes two collectible mini figures. I received a Stan Lee and Harry Knowles (Ain’t It Cool News) mini figures.

The Turtle Van t-shirt is definitely my favorite. The Star Wars plush and the Nerf shooter are something I can give away to friends or kids. The Star Wars magazine and the Comic-Con documentary are great for those wanting to get some entertainment while also learning about the respective nerd culture.

Nerd Block Classic is $19.99 plus s/h.
