Hemlock Grove Season Two is coming!

For fans of the twisted and warped, the wait is over for Eli Roth’s Netflix baby, Hemlock Grove. This July 11th, you can binge watch the second season in one large gulp. All of your favorites are back and getting, well, even more intimate with each other. Nerd Reactor got to spend a whole bloody day with the stars and creators of Hemlock Grove, and they told us what was in store for the new season.

Speaking of getting intimate (don’t call them a bromance!), Roman (Bill Skarsgard) and Peter (Landon Liboiron) are getting a lot… closer. This year they share a love interest, literally, with a new character played by the vibrant and motherly Madeline Brewer. What’s her biggest challenge on set? She may have already been used to the hard knock life in Orange is the New Black, but this time she’s playing a mother. She’s taking on the role with her own spark of pizazz!

There are a few changes with the second season, including showrunner Charles “Chic” Eglee, who seems to come from a place of surrealist storytelling and kindness, possibly bringing together one of the nicest and coolest cast members around. Another huge change was the mixing of practical props and CGI for the transformation and gore. Playing with the 10505283_10152553000186323_3370483083590881787_namazing new effects was fun, and things got a little messy. One thing that will blow your mind this season will be the wolf transformation. Literally bursting from within, we get to see a human come out of the wolf.

So why should you tune in tomorrow and watch season two? For one the SFX team, MastersFX, has done an amazing job on the gore and bringing this gruesome tale to life. Another great reason is the storyline is now free from the book. You know what that means. Anything can happen! While the first season lived within the realm of the novel Hemlock Grove, this second season is completely on its own and bounding forward, based on the characters established.

We get to see the dynamics of a family – the things that bring us together and the things we simply cannot forgive, just like in our life. (Although in real life most of us don’t bite our mother’s tongue off.) We get to see Olivia (Famke Janssen) show a softer side to her character. When we first met her she was an ice queen and now, after living through a brutalization by her son, she’s finally starting to feel, and that’s an amazing transformation to watch.

Also expect some new villain. A new religious group is moving in on Hemlock Grove. I’ve seen some of their weapons, and let’s just say I’m not sure they are here to play nice.

One thing is for sure, this season is jam packed with action and we hear a new monster is coming. While we don’t know what it is, we know episode 9 is going to give us a run for our money! So tune in July 11th on Netlfix and catch all of season two of Hemlock Grove!
