Anthony Mackie will be the new Captain America post-Avengers 3?

Ultimate-Falcon-Captain-AmericaSay waaaaaaaaaaah?

*WARNING: May Contain Spoilers!*

Some interesting news has surfaced yesterday dealing with who is next in line to wield Captain America’s shield after Chris Evans hangs up his tights. It has been known for quite some time now that Evans is nearing the end of his contractual obligations with Marvel and will likely not re-sign. Due to the more recent storyline focused on the relationship between Steve Rogers and once longtime friend Buckey Barnes (The Winter Soldier), many fans speculated that Sebastian Stan would more than likely take up the mantel to coincide with the comic books. That may not be the case as several sites now believe that it is Captain America co-star Anthony Mackie who is next in line to don the red, white and blue.

The rumor all started after Marvel teased the upcoming Captain America No. 25. In the new issue, a new Cap is chosen after Steve Rogers stepped down. The Super Soldier Serum was removed from his body, turning our once valiant superhero into a shriveled old man. Now a new Captain America will be crowned and all things point to Sam Wilson (Falcon). In fact, early cover art for the upcoming Avengers #35 shows Falcon holding Cap’s shield. Many think that because Wilson may take over the role that Mackie may also follow suit, which seems highly unlikely.

Sebastian Stan has signed on for nine films and after seeing Captain America: The Winter Solider, and you can see that the film heavily hints at Bucky taking over. It even left the door open for his character to return in later movies. If it is true that Avengers 3 is Chris Evan’s last Marvel movie, then I think Bucky will more than likely take over than Wilson.

So who do you think should be the new Captain Americe? Buck or Sam? Let us know in the comment section below.
