Firestorm joins The Flash

Pilot

Another super powered human joins the CW but this time it’s for the TV show The Flash and his name is Firestorm. You may have heard his name before… it’s Amell. No, not Stephen Amell, but his cousin Robbie Amell. The one currently on the other CW show, The Tomorrow People.

He will be rejoining Greg Berlanti on The Flash as a recurring character. Robbie will play Ronnie Raymond a.k.a. Firestorm. If you read the comics, Firestorm consists of two people but not like the Wonder Twins. But we’ll talk about that later in the article.

In the show, Ronnie is Caitlin Snow’s (Danielle Panabaker) fiancé. He’s also a maintenance worker at S.T.A.R. Labs that plays a key role in the particle accelerator incident that turns Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) into The Flash.

Berlanti had this to say, “[Executive producers] Geoff Johns, Andrew Kreisberg and I designed the pilot and series to include Ronnie (aka Firestorm) — and to actually have someone with Robbie’s talent playing the role is beyond exciting. We can’t wait for viewers and fans of the character to check it out.”

Robbie Amell also had this to say, I’m so excited to join forces with Greg Berlanti and The CW again on The Flash. Being brought into the DC Universe is a dream, I can’t wait to get started!”

In the comics, Firestorm is composed of two beings, Ronnie Raymond and Martin Stein. They fused together during a freak nuclear accident that turned them into Firestorm. Ronnie controls the body while the voice of reason — since Martin was unconscious when the fusion happened. Firestorm is a nuclear-powered hero with the ability to transmute elements.

This upcoming TV show just keeps on adding to the excitement and I can’t wait for the show to come out.
