Rumor: Anthony Mackie returns as Falcon in Avengers: Age of Ultron

One of the dreams an actor has when they sign to a Marvel role is the possibility that you’ll one day get to join your fraternity of actors in The Avengers. Anthony Mackie was one of those actors who have expressed ENORMOUS interest in having Falcon join Captain America in Age of Ultron. After all, Falcon was willing to follow Cap on any adventures he had at the ending of The Winter Soldier, so it’s only fitting that Falcon would be in Age of Ultron right? Well according to Mackie, he didn’t think his character would make the cut:

“Chris (Evans) is a good friend of mine. The movie starts in three weeks. I know he’s read the script. He’s like, ‘Yo, man, I read the Avengers script. It’s good.’ I was like, ‘Really?’” Mackie said. “[Evans] said, ‘Yeah, Joss is doing rewrites, but it’s good.’ I was like, ‘Great! So… am I in it?’ And he says, ‘I’ve got to go. I’ll be back.’ What do you mean? Why can’t you just tell me if I’m in the movie? No one would tell me, not one person, so I gave up on it.”

Regardless of the situation, Mackie — in costume — has been spotted on set with Elizabeth Olsen, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Samuel L. Jackson and B.J. Britt (Agent Triplett from ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.). The inclusion of Mackie to the cast brings the total number of Avengers members against Ultron to thirteen: Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, War Machine/Iron Patriot, Vision, Falcon, Nick Fury and Maria Hill.

Avengers: Age of Ultron destroys theaters on May 1st, 2015.
