Watch the first episode of BBC America’s ‘Almost Royal’

BBC America has released the first episode of their original comedy series Almost Royal online before it airs this Saturday after Orphan Black‘s season finale.

Georgie (Ed Gamble) and Poppy Carlton (Amy Hoggart) are heirs to Caunty Manor, a large country estate in Norfolk, England, where they have enjoyed privileged lives as distant descendants of the British Royal Family. They have agreed to have a camera crew follow them on an unofficial royal tour of the greatest country on earth – the United States of America.

Their first episode has them in Boston, Massachusetts – the birthplace of the American Revolution. They learn about Paul Revere, the Constitution, America’s favorite pastime baseball, and participate in an American Revolution reenactment.

It’s pretty hilarious watching the people unknowingly interacting with actors pretending to be royals. It reminds me of Borat, but proper like a good British royal. I can’t wait to watch Gamble and Hoggart, who are marvelous in their improv, interact with more Americans.

Almost Royal premieres this Saturday, June 21st at 10pm on BBC America.
