The cardboard box returns in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

It’s now time for Metal Gear Solid fans to rejoice. The moment we’ve all been waiting for is here. Hideo Kojima has revealed that the cardboard box will return in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain during the Konami Station video presentation today.

You can check it out at the 58-minute mark and see the gameplay footage being narrated by Hideo Kojima and friends. It’s in Japanese, and you won’t understand a lick of it (unless you know Japanese). What we do know is that when you select it from the weapon selection menu, it will drop down from the sky and land on Snake, aka Big Boss. Don’t question it, it’s a Japanese thing. Another cool feature is that Big Boss will be able to pop out of the box and surprise enemies. (I wonder if Kojima will add a birthday cake in it as well?) We also get a good look at the map inside The Phantom Pain.

Stay tuned as we have more info on the E3 gameplay demonstration next week.
