Fantastic Four’s Josh Trank announced to direct stand-alone Star Wars film

Lucasfilm and Disney have dropped another breaking news today. Josh Trank, the director of Chronicle and the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot, is officially announced as a director for one of the many stand-alone Star Wars films.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Josh into the family,” says Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy. “He is such an incredible talent and has a great imagination and sense of innovation. That makes him perfectly suited to Star Wars, and for this new slate of movies that reach beyond the core characters and storylines of Episodes I through IX.”

Trank states, “The magic of the Star Wars Universe defined my entire childhood. The opportunity to expand on that experience for future generations is the most incredible dream of all time.”

I really enjoyed Chronicle, since Trank was able to really ground super-powered beings. If he’s able to pull it off, we might get to see a more relatable and grounded Star Wars film. Perhaps it will star a bunch of teenagers who discover they have the power of the Force behind them?

What do you guys think of the news? Sound off below!
