Sword Art Online II will air online starting July 5th on Hulu and Crunchyroll

Aniplex has confirmed that the long-awaited Sword Art Online II will air online starting July 5th internationally on select platforms. The anime follows a year after the original series incident, where players who logged in to a new VRMMORPG called Sword Art Online all became trapped in the game and unable to log out. The only way to return home is to win the game, but should their avatar die in the process, the players will also cease to exist in reality.

Now, one of our main protagonists, Kirito, is asked to assist in an investigation of a problem plaguing one of the other virtual reality worlds, Gun Gale Online (GGO). In this world, a mysterious avatar armed with a black gun is killing other players, resulting in actual death in the real world. Find out what happens when Kirito enters and joins a tournament in GGO that will determine the strongest gunner in that reality in hopes of contacting the errant shooter.

Hulu and Hulu plus will stream the series in the US only, while Crunchyroll and DAISUKI will make it available to the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, U.K., Ireland, Latin American Countries, Europe (excluding German and French speaking countries), and Asia (excluding China, Korea, Taiwan).
