Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes console exclusives will be free to download for both platforms

MGSV-GZ-Exclusive-MissionsHere’s good news for all you MGS fans out there. Hideo Kojima revealed during the lastest episode of Kojima Station that all the console-exclusive missions that are on the Xbox and PlayStation will become available to everyone completely free of charge. That means PlayStation players will able to play as Raiden and Xbox players will be able to play as retro PS1 Snake.

I have to say that is a nice gesture, but I’m not sure if it is enough to sway the fans that are upset over the game’s thirty dollar price tag. I’m sure die-hard fans will be happy to get a chance to finally play both the “Deja Vu” and “Jamais Vu” missions.

The “Deja Vu” mission features a retro throwback style of the first Metal Gear Solid on the PS1. During the missions you must recreate seven scenes from the infamous Shadow Moses Incident. The mission features guest appearances by the Darpa Chief and everyone’s favorite psychic, Psycho Mantis.

2449464-mgsvgz_ss_bc_ss_dejavu_1The “Jamais Vu” mission features the Cyborg Ninja version of Raiden. In the mission, Raiden has time traveled to the past to eliminate a group of Body-Snatchers that have taken over the base. Oddly enough, Kiefer Sutherland provides the voice for Raiden instead of Quinton Flynn.

During the Kojima broadcast, Hideo revealed that players have racked up over 504 years of accumulative playtime on Ground Zeroes, and if you remember earlier this week, we announced that the game has already sold more than one million units. That is not bad for what people are calling a “glorified demo.” Still, many believe fans should be concerned that this doesn’t become a ongoing trend for other publishers.

You can check out trailers for the exclusive missions below. The DLC for  “Deja Vu” and “Jamais Vu” will be available to all players on May 1st.
