Goku’s mother finally introduced in ‘Dragon Ball Minus’ manga

Dragon Ball is an iconic manga and anime that has recognizable characters that are known across the globe by many. From what we know from the anime and manga, Goku grew up building his own friends and family. We never knew who his actual family was other than Bardock. That will all change because now, in a special 30-years in the making (probably not), we finally get to meet Goku’s mother. Thanks to RocketNews24, we get to see her.

It was released in Toriyama’s new work, Jaco the Galactic Patrolman. Since its release, people are now introduced to Goku’s mother and Bardock’s wife. Her name is Gine, which is a play on words for negi (green onions in Japanese). Dragon Ball has had a consistent theme of naming characters after vegetables, so it’s not a shock to find out her name is named after a vegetable.

She is introduced in a short, bonus manga called Dragon Ball Minus, which is shown after the main story of Jaco the Galactic Patrolman. Some readers of Jaco the Galactic Patrolman read it somewhat as a prequel to Dragon Ball. Dragon Ball Minus was written as a special chapter exclusive to Jaco the Galactic Patrolman omnibus edition.
