Captain America: The Winter Soldier is doing great. It has received many positive reviews from critics and fans alike, including bold statements like “It’s the best Marvel film yet.”

It has also dominated the box office over the weekend with an estimated $96.2 million. That’s definitely better than the $65 million opening for Captain America: The First Avenger and Thor, and the $85 million for Thor: The Dark World. However, the Iron Man trilogy still dominates the solo Marvel Cinematic Universe opening weekend, Iron Man with $98 million, Iron Man 2 with $128 million, and Iron Man 3 with $174 million. The Avengers still reigns supreme with $207 million. The Winter Soldier has broken the April record (Fast Five previously had the record with $86 million.) and has grossed over $303 million worldwide so far.

With news of how well Captain America is doing, Marvel has officially announced that Captain America 3 will be in theaters on May 6, 2016. That means that the super soldier will be going up against Warner Bros. and Zack Snyder’s Batman vs. Superman film. We talked about how this was good news for Cap, whether he triumphs over the DC heroes or not.
