Capcom April fools joke results in sadder Mega Man fans

Mega Man has been a fan favorite game since his first appearance in 1987 for the Nintendo Entertainment System, and he has appeared in nearly all Nintendo consoles and handhelds in some shape or form.

However, things took a turn for the worse in the last few years as Mega Man Universe and Mega Man Legends 3 were canceled. Mega Man series creator Keiji Inafune left Capcom to start his own company Compcept, announcing its first Kickstarter with plans to release the spiritual successor of Mega Man known as Mighty No. 9. It ended up surpassing its original goal, showing us that fans still love the genre that Capcom has ignored for the last few years.

On April 1st Capcom’s Japanese website showcased an awesome looking X image (which looked to be a redesigned X), but it was nothing more than an April Fools joke. It’s pretty sad since so many people would love a new game. Honestly I think the X Capcom showed off looks amazing, with a booster pack on his back and legs and a streamlined design. Capcom quickly deleted the image the day after.

Mega Man will appear in the upcoming Smash Bros. for the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. Do you think Capcom should be making another Mega Man game?
