With the new generations of consoles coming in, it’s always a risky investment for gamers to plunge in first during its launch year. Some console gamers would wait a couple of years until the manufacturers work out all the kinks, and others would wait until the consoles drop in price. As for the other console gamers, it seems that many are wanting the next-gen consoles now, as we can see from the performances of both the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One.

Now we have a survey from Fixya, a leading product Q&A site, where they have searched on their site for the top issues with the new next-gen consoles (technically they are current gen). Over 40,000 troubleshooting problems were looked at to see what the common issues were for each console.

For Xbox One owners, their main issue is with the Kinect, one of the main selling points for the Microsoft console. Users had issues including commands not being recognized, motion sensors malfunctioning and the Kinect not working.

PlayStation 4 owners had problems with audio and visual bugs, and also the “blue light of death” where the white light is now blinking red or blue.

Owners of the Wii U are still having issues with the console freezing, even though Nintendo has addressed the problem. Another issue includes the gamepad malfunctioning.

The list below are the top five issues for each of the next-gen consoles including percentages, according to the Fixya Game Report.

Nintendo Wii U

  1. Freezing—35%
  2. Gamepad —30%
  3. Internet Connection—15%
  4. Audio/Video —10%
  5. Other – 10%
