UPDATE #2: Is Fox abandoning its Fantastic Four reboot and starting anew?

UPDATE #2: It looks as if Bleeding Cool are sticking with their story, despite the rumor debunking that other sites have inflicted on the website. This is what they had to say:

However we remain confident in [our] source. Bleeding Cool suggests that if Fox really would like to stomp on the rumour, they stop approaching folk to replace the director and to write a new screenplay.

UPDATE #1: Well like most things in life, if it was too good to be true, it probably is. Since the news broke, three different news sources have tweeted that Bleeding Cool’s scoop is in fact NOT true.

Yeah, we share your sentiments too.

Original story below:

There’s currently not much information to go on at the moment, but Bleeding Cool has revealed that Fox’s proposed Fantastic Four reboot may be in more trouble than we imagined.

I’ve learnt from a rather well-connected source that, as the title says,  Fox has dumped Fantastic Four director John Trank and the script by Simon Kinberg and are actively looking for replacements. Six months before they are due to shoot, for 2015 release.

Oh, yes, and there are now casting issues from the studio too.

So what does that mean for the Fantastic Four rights? Well it’s pretty apparent that Fox is now under the gun to start production soon as the rights to the Fantastic Four are up this year — that is if the contract is the same as Daredevil‘s seven year leeway. If production stalls long enough it could mean that Marvel Studios will get its much-coveted “first family of Marvel” back. However, Fox has said in the past that they are willing to create a low budget, direct-to-DVD film and stick it in theaters just to keep the rights to their Marvel properties.

We’ll keep you posted on any more breaking news regarding this story.
