Matt Ryan as John Constantine

With CW releasing photos of their new upcoming TV show, The Flash, NBC did something similar today as well. The production of Constantine has started, and it is based on DC Comic’s Constantine and Hellblazer. Daniel Cerone and David S. Goyer will have their hands on this project. The series follows John Constantine, an occult detective who is unwillingly pushed to defending the world against evil forces of supernatural inclination.

Everyone, meet Matt Ryan as John Constantine (see above). He looks very similar to his comic book counterpart (see below). This is not the same John Constantine that we saw in 2005 (I still enjoyed it), but there were some things that just didn’t seem like John Constantine. But we’ll have to see where this takes us.

This pilot will be written by Daniel Cerone from a story he co-penned with Goyer. Cerone comes from the TV show The Mentalist, and Goyer from his recent hit show Da Vinci’s Demons.
