Macross exhibit open in Japan

If you will be visiting Japan and are a big fan of Macross, this is your chance to see a life-sized VF-25F Messiah from Macross F. If you’re not a fan of Macross but love mechs and robots, you will not be disappointed on seeing this bad boy.

The exhibit is located inside Tokyo’s tallest landmark, Tokyo Skytree. On the 8th floor, it shares the floor with an exhibit focused on Astrobiology. So after seeing the life-sized Valkyrie, you can check out the other exhibit.

As you can see from the pictures, the VF-25F Messiah is huge. It is nearly 30-feet long from nose cone to back burner, and just above 26 feet from shoulder to shoulder. And this is not even its final form. (I’ve always wanted to say that.)

This was all supervised by Macross F mechanical artist Hidetaki Tenjin, Valkyrie designer Shoji Kawamori, and animation production house BIG WEST. So you know this was a legit exhibit and done with proper blessings from the folks that know the very minute details.

I was lucky enough to visit Japan as they had the life-sized Gundam in Odaiba. I hope this exhibit lasts long enough for me to see, so that I can mark off my things to do list.
